Audrey Woulard workshop in CA

I can’t explain how amazing this trip was for me.  My sweet husband listened to me talk one evening about my fav photographer, Audrey Woulard. I told him that she does workshops in CA and that I could fly out and see my best friend, stay with her and learn from Audrey….a master of natural light and shooting in full sun.  It would be a dream come true.  I thought his eyes were glazing over, as they usually do when I talk about photography 😉 I was wrong. I told him I would try to get to a 2015 workshop and he surprised me with a 2014 workshop instead. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Words cannot describe how grateful I am to have a supportive and generous husband.

Now…on to the workshop. It was held at the most amazing, modern, drool worthy house in the Hollywood Hills. Driving up to the house was c.r.a.z.y. Winding roads, cars parked all over the streets making the narrow roads even narrower, steep hills, and did I mention the STEEP hills? Such a fun experience though! 3 floors of clean lines, bright accents, white walls… a modern decor heaven.  My parents are pretty contemporary, but it’s not all that common in Greensboro NC, so this was such a fun change of pace for me.  I LOVE contemporary things because of them, but the south has changed me a bit over the years too 🙂

Audrey was so real.  I thought I was going to be too star struck to talk to her, but she made everyone feel so welcome.  She shared anything and everything with us and I am much more comfortable in finding areas that I like to shoot in any location and at any hour.  I used to only want to shoot during the golden hour (hour before the sun sets), but that is just not possible in the summer with little kids… Now I get excited about full sun and I can accommodate my clients with times that work with their schedules too.  Thank you so much Audrey for your generosity, time and knowledge.  It doesn’t end after the workshop is over people.  She is still here to help and we all appreciate it so much!
